Off the back of a two-year winning streak, four consecutive world championships, gold at the London Olympics and numerous World Cup events, Mathew Belcher has won the male World Sailor of the Year award.
Belcher now joins London Olympic teammate and fellow gold medallist Tom Slingsby as a recipient of the award handed out to the top athletes across all disciplines of sailing.
Belcher and Slingsby are the only two Australian’s to win the award in its 19 year history.
