LIDELL AND BAYSWATER POWER STATIONS UP FOR SALE

bayswaterThe largest electricity generator in New South Wales is being put up for sale as the State Government offloads its power assets.

NSW Treasurer Mike Baird has called for expressions of interest for two of Macquarie Generation’s Hunter Valley coal-fired power stations at Liddell and Bayswater.

Mr Baird says the proceeds from the sale will be invested in the Governments infrastructure fund, with 30 per cent of it earmarked for regional projects.

Macquarie Generation represents 26 per cent of the state’s generation capacity.

Two of its development sites will also be offered for sale, including a site adjacent to the Bayswater power station, with planning approval for a coal or gas fired generator.
