TWO INJURED IN HIGH SPEED CRASH NEAR COOLOONGOLOOK

Police are investigating if speed may have caused a serious car crash on the Pacific Highway, south of Cooloongolook, this morning.

Just before 7am, a 25-year-old man travelling south crossed to the other side of the highway and collided with another car head-on.

The male driver sustained chest and back injuries, while a 51-year-old woman driving a wagon, suffered a fractured arm.

Both were transported to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

The north-bound lanes of the highway were closed for more than an hour, while crews worked to free the two drivers.
