LINCOLN DEWS DOMINATES SUP TECHNICAL RACE

The three day SUP & Paddle festival wrapped up on the Gold Coast today with the exhausting technical races.

More than 25 Stand Up Paddleboarders and paddlers tackled a 5.7 kilometre course together at Bilinga.

At first there were plenty of traffic jams around the cans, before the Sunshine Coast’s Lincoln Dews took the lead, and maintained it, after four and a half laps.

“I was feeling pressure the whole time, this kind of conditions anything can happen anyone can catch a wave, anyone can get caught, so just had to get in front and make no mistakes.”

Ironwoman Jordan Mercer took out the women’s Prone Paddle.

“It was a heap of fun we had very tricky conditions out there today but its great to be in the water racing with the stand up paddlers.”

Both have now qualified for the Australian Titles.
