Ballina funeral director Neil Gray was a no-show at court today, with his lawyer producing a medical certificate from Thailand’s Bangkok hospital stipulating the 67-year-old was not able to travel.
Gray was first arrested in December last year and charged with stealing items such as jewellery from bodies of people before they were buried or cremated.
Yesterday police added another two charges to the list, this time relating to claims he defrauded people who had pre-paid for funerals at the Ballina funeral home.
Gray will appear in court next Thursday.
