A man aged in his 70s has drowned at Flat Rock on the North Coast this morning.
Surfing life savers and bystanders pulled the man from the water around 8am and rendered assistance.
Five ambulance crews shortly arrived on the scene.
Paramedics and bystanders performed CPR on the man for 30 minutes.
The man was taken to Ballina Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
