HUNTER RESIDENTS ASSAULTED IN BREAK AND ENTER

Police are investigating an aggravated break and enter in the Hunter, near Cessnock.

Two Aberdare residents were returning to their Kearsley Street home, just after 9:30pm on Tuesday night, when they noticed a silver Holden Commodore in the driveway.

The intruder then assaulted the 27-year-old man and 26-year-old woman, before fleeing towards Melbourne Street.

Police believe more than one person was involved in the incident.
