A large scale search is underway for a backpacker missing from Byron Bay on the state’s far north coast.
Theo Hayez was last seen leaving a night club late on May 31 and was later reported missing after he failed to check out of his hostel.
His passport and personal belongings were all found inside his room.
The search has now turned to bushland on the east and northeast of the beachside town, with police appealing for dashcam footage from Jonson and Tennyson Streets, around the time Mr Hayez went missing.
The 18-year-old is described as being of Caucasian appearance, around 180 to 190cm tall with a thin build and blond hair.
He was last seen wearing a black hooded jumper, beige pants and black shoes.
