PRAISE FOR VETERAN VOLUNTEER

She may be nearing 99-years old, but volunteer Lorna Allen says she has no intention of stopping anytime soon.

The baker and seamstress…who began helping the Red Cross during the second world war – currently assists at Uniting’s Caroona aged care home at Goonellabah.

Staff today held a morning tea, commemorating her 60-years of continuous community service.

“I haven’t got words, I don’t think, strong enough to say how I feel about what I do with the residents.”

“It’s the love, mainly I think, and it all comes from my heart.”
