NEWCASTLE MOURNS LOSS OF WELL-KNOWN PIANIST
Newcastle is mourning the loss of well-known pianist, Sharon Raschke, who passed away after a short battle with cancer, aged 77.
Ms Raschke moved to the city from Melbourne at 19 years of age, and within a few years she’d co-founded the Chamber Music Society.
She performed, composed and taught throughout her career, and also worked with some of the industry’s best including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
She also worked with artists who included the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Nick Enright, Judy Davis and Robyn Archer at venues from the Sydney Opera House to the Nimrod theatre and wrote original music for the film ‘My Brilliant Career’.
Ms Raschke is survived by her five children and 11 grandchildren.

I knew and loved the lady that was Sharon
Sharon Raschke was a wonderful musician, an amazing lady and dear friend. She will be missed by us all.
