Around 50 people turned out at Newcastle Local Court today, to support a woman accused of murdering her six week old daughter.
The 26-year-old Senegalese woman, who we can’t name for legal reasons, was arrested at a home in Wallsend last Friday, and was later charged with murder.
Today, the woman appeared via audio visual link and was assisted by a translator.
The court heard she has a severe psychological condition.
The woman sat with her head in her hands, but had to be taken away for medical treatment during the hearing.
The case has been adjourned until August 17.
