GAVIN’S WEEKEND WEATHER:COASTAL SHOWERS

The cold pool that tracked north during the week, produced some big totals from Newcastle to Southport. Last night’s heavy rain in North East NSW and South East Queensland was the heaviest April rain in about five years.

More wet weather is on the way for coastal areas across the weekend. The trend of moist onshore winds will continue making for a cloud affected couple of days with the majority of the shower activity falling on the eastern side of the divide. There is also a moisture feed surging down from the tropics which is going to ad to the cloud cover so we will see some patchy shower activity develop in the afternoon across the North West.

There’s a moderate swell running, bigger in the north so southern corners will be best for surfers.

For boaties waters will be choppy but winds will ease over the weekend. Beware of the low tide in the middle of the day when crossing bars.
