SOD TURNED ON RAYMOND TERRACE GP SUPER CLINIC

The Hunter region’s stretched health care system is one step closer to being eased with works getting underway on the new GP Super Clinic at Raymond Terrace.

The $15-million facility will offer services such as dental, pathology, dialysis and aged care all under the one roof, saving patients from travelling to Maitland and Newcastle for treatment.

After six years in the planning phase, Health Minister Jillian Skinner and Member for Port Stephens Craig Baumann will visit the site today as early works get underway.

The facility will also house community health, child services, chronic disease management, mental health services and maternal and infant care.

Work is expected to be competed by March 2014.
