MURDER CHARGE AFTER CHRISTMAS EVE ASSAULT

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a man who was assaulted in Armidale on Christmas Eve.

On Monday afternoon 47 year-old Douglas Bindley was allegedly struck repeatedly with a wooden chair and baseball bat inside his home.

He died from the injuries last night.

A 40-year-old man was charged with reckless wounding and using a weapon to commit an indictable offence, but was re-arrested last night and charged with murder.

He’ll face Armidale Local Court today.
