Two men are lucky to be alive after the cherry picker they were working in collapsed and slammed onto the bitumen on Molesworth street.
The accident happened at about six o’clock last night while the workers were erecting a sign at Officeworks in Lismore’s CBD.
Work cover and police are still investigating the cause of the collapse but it’s believed the cherry picker fell over after being driven over a large man hole cover which caved in.
Both men are in a stable condition.

Its terrible that instances like this are still happening even though there have been detailed safety processes for cherry pickers in place for years. It is usually a case of lack of care and parking a cherry picker over a manhole is a classic example of this.
I hope the two guys made a speedy recovery and that the company in question learned some serious lessons from this!
