The association says the link is one of many projects that would save lives, but is being delayed as part of the overdue upgrading of the Pacific Highway.

  1. The Pacific Highway is just as important as the F3 link to Raymond Terrace that could help link to the Pacfic Highway for Sydney and northern bound traffic that requires no link into Hexham or Newcastle.

Lack of funding by State and Federal Government to roads is causing this problem.Even with the stimulus packages from the federal government only so much can be done.

  2. If who ever designed the F3 freeway was qualified to do the job. There would not be any need for the expense of altering any of it.
Instead of turning right at the Weakly Flat roundabout at the end of the F3 freeway and going over a poorly designed Hexham bridge with a 35 Kilometer bend on to the bridge and went straight ahead past the Weakly Flat roundabout and on past Thornton over the railway line and over the Williams River and connect to the Pacific Highway the other side of Raymond Terrace. The stretch of highway between Hexham Bridge and the Raymond Terrace bypass is slowly becoming a 60 Kilometer zone because of all the development going on.
Maybe the so called qualified people are the same ones who designed the freeway to go through the centre of a small village of Coolongolook.

  3. Newcastle surrounded by missing links because governments never seem to finish anything. I hope the Hunter Expressway doesn’t finish at a T intersection like the F3 did. But all the missing links need to be finished such as state highway past the Uni needs finiishing at Shortland end as well as past the hospital to the charlestown bypass. If the Governments planning of another 120,000 persons to move in the region in the near future is gooing ahead all these missing links need to be finished ASAP
