An elderly Newcastle couple got a sinking feeling today
when what’s believed to be a mine subsidence hole opened up in their North-Lambton backyard.
Emergency services were called when the hole measuring about 1.5 metres wide and three metres deep, appeared.
The area was inspected and cordoned off.
The hole will be filled-in first thing tomorrow.
