GOLD COAST MAN CHARGED OVER A SPATE OF ALLEGED ATM ROBBERIES

A Gold Coast man will face court over the robbery and attempted robbery of nine ATM machines across South East Queensland. The 34-year-old from Helensvale will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court charged with various offences including four counts of entering a premises and committing an indictable offence. Police say the ATM’s were located in shopping centres, and were targeted between January last year through to January in 2018. A 38-year-old Brisbane man will also be charged with nine counts of entering a premises and committing an indictable offence, and obstructing police.

GOLD COAST DRIVER CHARGED AFTER ALLEGEDLY CRASHING STOLEN UTE

A Gold Coast man has been charged after allegedly crashing a stolen motor vehicle on the weekend. Police say just before 10pm on Sunday night, a ute was seen driving erratically at Burleigh Heads, before running a red light and crashing a short time later at University Drive in Robina. Two men allegedly attempted to flee the scene when police arrived, but were apprehended and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with minor injuries. A 19-year-old Robina man has now been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and dangerous driving while intoxicated. He will appear at Southport Magistrates Court next month.

FIREARM POINTED AT GOLD COAST EMPLOYEES LEAVING WORK

Two women on the Gold Coast have been threatened at gunpoint while leaving work overnight. The two employees of a Highland Park tavern on Alexander Drive were leaving work at around 10.30pm, when they noticed a man loitering in the rear carpark. The man, who was wearing a motorcycle helmet, approached their vehicle as it was pulling out of the carpark, where he produced a firearms and pointed it in their direction. The two women fled the scene in their car while the man left on foot. Police would now like to speak to a man who may be able to assist in their enquiries over the incident. He is described as having an athletic build and was wearing a red, hooded jumper, black pants, black shoes, black gloves and a black motorcycle helmet.

TWO TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AFTER GOLD COAST UTE CRASH

Two men have been taken into custody after an allegedly stolen vehicle crashed on the Gold Coast. Police say that a ute was seen driving erratically at Burleigh Heads shortly before 10pm last night, before responding to reports that there had been a traffic crash at University Drive in Robina. Two men had fled the scene by the time police arrived, but were taken into custody a short time later. Both men were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

WOMAN STABBED IN ALLEGED GOLD COAST ALTERCATION

A 26-year-old man has been charged after a woman was injured by a sword in Southport overnight. Police say that around 11:30pm, a man and woman were allegedly involved in an altercation at a home on High Street, when the woman was struck with a sword. She was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital with a leg injury, she’s in a serious but stable condition. The man was arrested and charged with one count of wounding. He’s scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on February 6.

TWO OFFICERS ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTED AT GOLD COAST PARTY

Four teenagers have been charged after two police officers were allegedly assaulted at Upper Coomera in the early hours of this morning. Around 1:15am, police responded to a noise complaint at a private residence on Meadow Way, where they found a large group of teenagers who had been attending a party. Two constables, a male and a female, attempted to move the group on, but it’s alleged the group became belligerent and surrounded the officers before assaulting them. The female constable was punched in the face and grabbed around the neck, while the male constable was also punched and kicked. The officers were treated at the scene for minor injuries. TWO MEN HOSPITALISED AFTER UNPROVOKED GOLD COAST ASSAULT

Two men have been assaulted – one knocked unconscious – during an unprovoked attack on the Gold Coast. Shortly after 3am, the men were among a group of friends on Archipelago Street at Pacific Pines, when two other men approached the group. Police say an unprovoked altercation broke out, resulting in the assault of two men. A 17-year-old man was knocked unconscious, and an 18-year-old man suffered facial injuries. Both were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital and are reportedly in a stable condition. Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident is urged to contact police.

GOLD COAST MAN STABBED WITH SCISSORS IN ALLEGED CONFRONTATION

A man will face a Gold Coast court after he allegedly stabbed another man with a pair of scissors overnight. Police say an altercation broke out between the two men, aged 35 and 49, just after midnight at a residence on Norman Street in Southport. The younger man, from Benowa, was allegedly stabbed with a pair of scissors and taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with injuries to his hands and forearms. A 49-year-old Surfers Paradise man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm, and possession of dangerous drug.
