From the beginning of broadcast, NBN saw the importance of Educational facilities, in our region

our news crews covered the development of Newcastle University from the mid sixties. Professor Brin Newton John, offered insight,

“We propose to admit, for the next couple of years anyway, all people who are fully matriculated under the NSW Higher School certificate.”

Gough Whitlam saw education as the fundamental ingredient for equity and opportunity, it was to become a core area of reform for his government.

Tocal Agricultural college completed in 1965 was transferred to the state in 1970, accepted by Premier Bob Askin.

Belmont Technical college helped improve the prospects of local students, there to acquire skills for future roles in the commercial world.
