Rewind Series 3 Episode 7 – Aircraft Action

In the early 70’s NBN News traveled to the Boeing Factory in Seattle.

Qantas was taking delivery of this 747 named the ‘City of Newcastle’.

Dignitaries christened the Jumbo prior to its maiden flight to Australia.

Closer to home, crowds gathered at Pelican Air Strip..

This world war 2 Supermarine Seagull had just Landed, after taking part in the England to Australia air race.

59 planes were in the race ….. participants received a civic reception at City hall..

and at Rutherford, this Air Show took place to celebrate 40 years of the Tiger Moth…

Historic aircraft entertained the crowd including this classic P51 Mustang.
