CANCER CRUSADER RECOGNISED BY PREMIER

A Lambton man who’s raised $200,000 for breast cancer research has been acknowledged for his efforts, today presented with the Premier’s Community Service Award by Newcastle MP, Tim Owen.

Andrea Rufo founded the Pink Frangipani Ball after his wife, Sandra, lost her battle with the disease in 2005.

He’s organised the ball every two years since – the next one’s set down for the 21st of April.

The award also acknowledged Mr Rufo’s work with the Italian Welfare Organisation, and Ethnic Community Council of Newcastle.
