WOMAN DIES IN CRASH NEAR TAREE

A woman has died in a single-vehicle crash near Taree yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to a trail off Smiths Road at Kiwarrak, 10 kilometres south of Taree around 4.30, following reports of a crash.

Upon their arrival, Police located a Jeep Wrangler that had slid down a steep incline on its roof.

The passenger – a 31-year-old woman – sadly died at the scene.

The driver – a 27-year-old man – was uninjured and taken to Manning Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers established a crime scene and seized the vehicle, which is being forensically examined.

Investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
