ORICA AGAIN IN THE FIRING LINE

There’s yet more damaging news for Orica with revelations 10,000 kilograms of ammonia is being released from its Newcastle plant on average each week.

It follows Wednesday’s hospitalisation of two rail workers, after the third chemical leak at the facility in as many months.

  1. Nothing new to me. As a former resident, I used to train (bike ride) at 5.00am every morning around Stockton five times (approx 30k) every morning. I eventually stopped training and moved out of Stockton because of the leaking ammonia smell of a morning, which I believe was doing me more harm than the benefit of training. As a TAFE student I did a comprehensive study/ survey on the then Incitec Plant on their concealed pollution. They (Incitec) did not want to digress on their “Honeycomb” pipe system release hidden under the Hunter River unknown to residents. These leaks have been covered up for years.

  2. Whats the go with the Health Department spokesperson? an Industry apologist or what?’ you only get acute health problems with ammonia’… am i missing something this is an ongoing leak every week… IE: every day? Acute symptoms for a Chronic problem. doesnt that imply chronic symptoms…? & your in charge of protecting us good Doctor?! Oh think of the children let them come up air~!
