WINDALE MAN FINED FOR TRAVELLING TO SYDNEY

A man whose covid diagnosis sent a Lake Macquarie social housing unit complex into lockdown caught the virus in Western Sydney.

The 52-year-old was fined $1,000 on Sunday for breaching the public health order.

Police say the man travelled to Marayong in Blacktown to visit and stay with a friend, and later tested positive for COVID-19.

He was issued a $1000 PIN on Sunday, and directed not to leave his Windale apartment.

In a compliance check on Tuesday, police noticed his condition had deteriorated, so he was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.

In an unrelated incident, just after 9pm on Monday, police attended the complex in response to a noise complaint in a unit.

They found four men – aged between 40 and 52 – drinking and listening to loud music.

All the men were given $1,000 PINs and directed to return to their own units.
