RUMORS SPREADING MOUNT WARNING MAY BE PERMANENTLY CLOSED

New South Wales National Parks says no decision has been made to permanently close the Mt Warning walking track, despite reports a date has been set.

The summit is a declared sacred Aboriginal space.

The park has remained closed since the start of the pandemic for repairs to infrastructure.

Heavily redacted documents released under freedom of information show bureaucrats have set a timline for a permanent closure on 25 November 2022.

The Parks and Wildlife Service says an update will be provided in May.
