MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING STAND-OFF AT A GRAFTON HOME

A man has been arrested following a three hour stand-off at a home on the state’s North Coast.

Police were called to the home on Turf Street, Gibson at around 9 o’clock yesterday morning, after concerns were raised about the welfare of those inside.

When police arrived, a man armed with a knife allegedly made threats towards the officers.

A perimeter was established and eventually, two women and a young boy were able to leave the home.

Specialist police were called in, and just before midday, the man was arrested and taken to Grafton Police Station.

He’s since been taken to the Coffs Harbour Health Campus for a mental health assessment.

Investigations are continuing.
