TRUEGAIN FINED FOR BREACHING ITS LICENCE
A Hunter waste oil processing company has been fined more than $22,000 for breaching its licence.
The Environment Protection Authority says Rutherford company Truegain failed to store liquid waste in a competent manner, resulting in pollution to a stormwater canal and creek.
“This includes no effective warning or alarm system, insufficient pumps installed in the tank, and inadequate controls in place for the event that the tank overflowed including no automatic shut-off device and no bunding,” said Hunter Region Manager, Adam Gillian.
The Land and Environment Court has also ordered Truegain to publicise the details of the offence in three local newspapers.
