OFFICER INJURED IN ARREST AT TWEED HEADS

A police officer has been left with a dislocated shoulder after he was struck by a car during an arrest near the New South Wales-Queensland border.

Officers spotted a stolen BMW in the carpark of Tweed Heads Hospital at around 1 o’clock on Sunday morning, when the vehicle was allegedly driven into a police car.

A Senior Constable who came to assist was hit by the car.

It then collided with a second car which had a 15-month-old child onboard.

The stolen car eventually stopped on nearby Avla Street. Three men were arrested and the BMW seized for forensic examination.

A fourth man remains on the run.

The injured officer was taken to the nearby hospital for treatment.
