A young girl has died after the car she was travelling in struck a power pole in the Newcastle suburb of Rankin Park.
The girl was rushed to the nearby John Hunter Hospital following the accident on McCaffrey Drive, near the intersection of Lookout Road at around 1 o’clock this afternoon.
She later died in hospital.
A woman, who was a passenger in the car was also admitted to hospital.
The male driver of the car was taken for mandatory testing.
