CHARGES LAID OVER CRASH WITH BALLINA FERRY

A Ballina man will face court next month, charged over an incident in April in which he allegedly crashed into a ferry.

It’s alleged the man was driving along Burns Point Road at West Ballina at around midnight on April 13, when the car he was driving hit the vehicle ferry.

Police have been told the vehicle hit the vessel at such a high speed it became airborne, before it landed in the river.

The 25-year-old was rescued, while his car was seen floating upstream before sinking.

The local man is set to face Ballina Local Court in July, after being issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for Negligent Driving and High Range PCA.

His licence was also suspended.
