COAST SPEEDSTERS SLOWING DOWN IN SUBURBS

Central Coast Council claims new signage is already having an impact at so-called ‘hoon hotspots’ around town.

Flashing speed detectors have been installed at four Woongarrah streets in recent months to encourage drivers to ease off their accelerators.

These include Mataram Road, where drivers were frequently clocked driving 65 kilometres an hour in a 50 zone.

The removable speed detectors could soon be rolled out across other suburbs, including Woy Woy.
