Police are investigating the death of a 36-year-old man in Cessnock overnight.
Officers were called to an Edith Street home at 11pm, where they found the man seriously injured in the backyard. Paramedics tried to save him, but he later died at the scene.
A 31-year-old woman and 32-year-old man attended Cessnock Police Station a short time later and were questioned by detectives. It’s believed all three people were known to each other.
The man remains in custody, while the woman has been released pending further investigations.
A crime scene has been established and a Nissan Patrol 4WD has been seized for forensic examination.
