The New South Wales Department of Health has launched an independent inquiry into disgraced gynaecologist Emil Shawky Gayed – who used to work on the mid north coast.
Dozens of women from the Taree area lodged complaints regarding treatment they received from the doctor.
He has since been banned from practising for three years.
Dr Gayed worked at Kempsey Hospital from 1990 to 2003 and Manning Hospital from 1999 to 2016.
