Lennox Head surfer Owen Wright has advanced through to round five in the Rio leg of the Pro Tour.
The 21 year old took down both his Brazilian rival and 11th seed Michel Bourez, scoring a total of 16.67 in his heat.
Wright dominated the round, setting himself up for the win early on, with a massive 9 pointer.
“There were some great waves out there, got the quick start and just wanted to get that mid six or something to back it up with straight up.”
But it was bad news for Byron Bay’s Kieren Perrow, bowing out to Cooly kid Joel Parkinson in round 3.
Parko and fellow Aussie, Josh Kerr are also through to the fifth round.
