MAN EXTRADITED OVER ALLEGED ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY

A man has been extradited from Queensland over an alleged attempted armed robbery in the state’s far north more than six years ago.

Police say the man, armed with a firearm, allegedly forced entry to a general store on Mt Lindsay Road at Legume in late October, 2011.

During the incident, the man became involved in a struggle with the store attendant, a 57-year-old woman.

The woman sustained cuts to her hands during the altercation, but the man fled empty-handed.

Following extensive investigations, a 27-year-old man was arrested in Queensland yesterday.

The man, from Queensland, was extradited to Lismore Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence, among other charges.
