Early-risers in Newcastle this morning were treated to a rare sight over the city.
Two hot air balloons made a trip from near Wharf Road in the city’s east to Wallsend, dazzling onlookers below.
Balloon Aloft took two groups of lucky customers on the spectacular trip.
Conditions were ideal for the flight, which usually involves an element of risk as the craft can be blown north of the Hunter River and encroach on Newcastle Airport airspace.
