Member for Port Stephens Craig Baumann has announced he will withdraw as the Liberal candidate for the electorate for next year’s state election.
Mr Baumann has occupied the seat of Port Stephens since 2007, and was embroiled in ICAC hearings earlier this year. As the possibility of a High court challenge looms, Mr Baumann says he’s putting the people in the seat of Port Stephens ahead of his personal political career.
“My decision is based on protecting the people of Port Stephens from a Labor Member which would be disastrous for our community.”
Craig Baumann will continue to serve as the member of Port Stephens until the election in March next year.
