MAN CHARGED AFTER CRIME SPREE

A 25-year-old man is facing court today over a crime spree across Newcastle and Port Stephens.

It’s alleged he held up a service station at Tarro, just after midnight on Monday where he allegedly threatened staff and stole cash and cigarettes.

The man left in a car that had been stolen and it was later found on fire at Mallabula around 2 hours later.

It’s also alleged he broke into, and stole money, from a home at Tanilba Bay, then took another car.

Later in the morning it’s alleged the man stole cash from a resort in Nelson Bay and then broke into a home at Tomaree and stole a third car.

The man was arrested on Cormorant Road, Kooragang Island and now faces 12 charges.
