WALLSEND UNIT SPRAYED WITH BULLETS

Up to 26 shots have been fired into a unit at Wallsend overnight.

Emergency services were called to the apartment on Longworth Avenue at about 11.40, following reports of gunfire.

Police have been told a number of shots were fired into the unit, but no-one was injured.

Forensic officers were examining the crime scene this morning.
