P-PLATE DRIVER CHARGED FOR ALLEGEDLY SPEEDING, DRUG USE NEAR URALLA

A P-plate driver has allegedly returned a positive drug test after posting 140km/h in a 100km/h zone in the state’s north-west, as operation Safe Arrival enters it’s second day.

Police allege the 20-year-old driver was stopped on the New England Highway, Uralla, after he was checked for speeding.

In other incidents, a 20-year-old man was charged after allegedly posting a speed of 167km/h in a 70km/h area in Lansvale, while a 30-year-old man was charged after allegedly returning a breath analysis of 0.181.

Double demerit points are in effect during operation Safe Arrival over the Christmas-New Year period.
