The State Crime Command is investigating an elaborate attempt to steal an ATM at a Lake Macquarie shopping centre.
The free-standing Newcastle Permanent machine, at Mount Hutton’s Lake Macquarie Fair, was targeted by thieves at about 4.30 this morning.
They allegedly kicked in a glass door and attempted to set the ATM on fire, before fleeing.
The machine was taped up today… investigators say they’re following lines of inquiry.
