A collision between two vehicles on the Far North coast claimed the life of a woman yesterday evening.
Shortly after 5 o’clock, a 42-year-old man was driving his Toyota Landcruiser on Nimbin Road in Numbin when it collided with a Toyota Hiace near the High Street intersection.
The driver of the Hiace, a 49-year-old woman, was trapped in the van for two hours before being removed and airlifted to hospital.
She later died as the result of her injuries.
The driver of the Landcrusier was taken to hospital with a head injury and a laceration to his elbow. He also underwent mandatory testing.
Police are appealing for any witnesses of the crash to come forward.
