A 48-year-old Maitland man has been rescued from a tree in Manilla, following a misjudged paragliding landing.
The newly licensed paraglider was coming to land in at Mount Borah in fine conditions at around 12.30 today, when he encountered strong sinking air on the final approach.
He landed safely in a tall tree on the edge of the field.
The position on the branch was deemed as too risky for him to climb down from, so the RFS was called in to help him down with a long extension ladder.
Witnesses say he was happy to be back on the ground, in time to watch the Melbourne Cup.
