FOREST FIRE BURNS UNCONTAINED
A fire burning the Barcoongere State Forest, north of Coffs Harbour, for the past two days continues to burn out of control – despite the efforts of more than 50 fire fighters.
Smoke has blanketed the area between Coffs Harbour and Grafton.
More than 2000 hectares of forest has now been consumed by the blaze.
“About 90 per cent we have got contained just a small section on the north east corner north of Pebbly Beach still burning uncontained we are hoping to get around that over the next few days.”
Camping grounds at Pebbly Beach and Station Creek have now been closed.
