A man and woman have been arrested after allegedly bashing an older couple at an oval near Lake Macquarie at the weekend.
A 69-year-old man and 68-year-old woman were at an oval at Awaba at about 5.20pm, when they saw two people riding dirt bikes on the field.
It’s alleged the older man asked the riders to leave, before they became aggressive and hit the older woman to the ground.
The older man went to his companion’s assistance before he was also allegedly punched to the ground and had his mobile phone taken.
The injured pair was taken to John Hunter Hospital for their injuries, including cuts, bruising and possible fractures.
The alleged offenders were arrested yesterday and charged with offences including two counts of aggravated robbery and common assault.
They’ll face Belmont Local Court next month.
