- Lake Macquarie sailors Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen have won silver for Australia in the 49er class sailing in Rio. The Wangi boys were beaten in the 12 race series by New Zealand.
- Earlier Lake Macquarie’s Will Ryan and Matt Belcher also won silver in the 470 class.
- Meantime, Australian swimmers Josh Palmer and Emma McKeon have been banned from attending the closing ceremony after a boozy night out and failing to return to the athletes village without notifying officials.
