ORCHESTRA VISITS REGIONAL SCHOOLS
The New South Wales Department of Education’s Symphonic Wind Orchestra is touring the region, and today it stopped in Tamworth for workshops with local high school students.
It prides itself on offering an experience that’s rare in the bush.
“They called in and did a concert at Boggabri Central School, which was very exciting because Boggabri had never seen an ensemble like that live.”
For some, it’s more than just a performance, allowing students to brush shoulders with like- minded musicians.
“It’s not only picking up an instrument and learning to play but it does so many other great things, you know it instills discipline, the amount of time the kids need to practice, et cetera, and work as a group.”

Thanks for covering the tour by this group. One of the musicians is my son, and his great passion is performing. The towns they have visited have been so welcoming and warm that he’s returning today full of renewed enthusiasm.
