MOURNERS GATHER TO FAREWELL POLICE OFFICER
A Port Stephens police officer killed while on duty earlier this month, will be farewelled during a full police funeral in Newcastle today.
The service, at Christ Church Cathedral, will include a valedictory read by NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione, a marching escort and roadside guard of honour after the church service.
Sergeant Geoffrey Richardson died while on duty on the 2nd of March when his police car struck a tree at Allandale as he responded to a pursuit.
Almost $20,0000 has been raised in a special fund to support Sergeant Richardson’s wife and young sons.
We’ll have more details and pictures from this story, tonight at six.
