PROTESTERS CHARGED FOR ALLEGEDLY RESISTING ARREST

Two protesters have been charged after they allegedly resisted arrest at Santos’ Leewood water treatment facility near Narrabri this week.

On Monday morning police were called to the Old Mill Road premises in the Pilliga, following reports protesters had gained entry and locked themselves onto the site.

While most agreed to leave with officers, two women aged 46 and 47 allegedly refused, and one was pepper sprayed.

They were arrested and charged with enter enclosed land without lawful excuse, and hinder arrest.

They’ll appear before Narrabri Local Court on February 23.
