Hunter rider Toby Price has edged a step closer to becoming the first Australian to win the Dakar rally.
Overnight, the 28-year-old moved into the overall lead in the bike division after winning stage eight.

Mitchell Hughes started as a tape editor in Newcastle in 1999. He became a reporter in 2004, working in Lismore and on the Gold Coast.
